Music on the Lawn, Thursdays in September

Since 2010 Grace Episcopal Church in lower Georgetown has invited neighbors far and near to come and enjoy great music and its beautiful gardens and grounds on Thursdays in September. We feature jazz and roots music. Join us; you can bring a picnic supper with libations, and there are food items, juices and soft drinks for sale too. No charge, but we appreciate a donation of $10, more if you can, to support this popular community offering. Come anytime from 5:30 on, enjoy the cool-but-not-too-cool September evenings, listen to extraordinary music as the sun sets behind you. Here are some details about this September’s series, featuring, as always, some of the best musicians in the DC area:

Thursdays in September, beginning September 1st;

Gates open 5:30 p.m. | music 6 to 7:15

Dog Tag Bakery will have a concession on the grounds for each performance, with sandwiches, salads, pastries and soft drinks available for purchase.

September 8: Backroads Band – Bluegrass & a little Country
September 15: Machaya (Yiddish word describing something that gives great joy) – Klezmer & more
September 22: Cloudburst – vocalese a la Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, Manhattan Transfer – great instrumentals, too
September 29: Marshall Keys, sax and Herman Burney, bass – great musicians, longtime faithful friends of Grace
