Jazz guitarist and composer Pete Muldoon has performed on both the national and international stage-including last month at Bohemian Caverns. The Washington City Paper wrote succinctly: “You have got to hear Pete Muldoon.” Named D.C.’s “Best Jazz Guitarist” by City Paper, Muldoon boasts an impressive dexterity and adventurous approach that appeal to a wide spectrum of music lovers. Never been to the Arts Barn? An intimate 99-seat theater a few miles up I-270, it’s closer than you think in the charming Georgetown-meets-Mayberry neighborhood of Kentlands, in Gaithersburg. And, yes, the Arts Barn really was once a barn.

Muldoon is joined by Reginald Cyntje (trombone), Elijah Balbed (tenor sax), Allyn Johnson (piano), Pepe Gonzalez (bass), and Savannah Harris (drums). Together, they create a heady combination of jazz, soul and funk.

Muldoon is a D.C. artist through and through, having studied with Calvin Jones, Steve Novosel and Allyn Johnson at the University of the District of Colombia. He then went on to Howard University where he was influenced and instructed by Charlie Young, Charles Covington, and Gerry Kunkel on his way to gaining his Master of Music degree. Muldoon has performed with such greats as Pharaoh Sanders and Bennie Maupin.
