Blake Aaron spins soulful guitar tales on “Soul Stories”
![]() Like a collection of short stories, guitarist Blake Aaron’s “Soul Stories” is a diverse set of colorfully compelling compositions.
“Wes Side Story,” a spirited ’60s soul jazz excursion that will take you back to the days of Wes Montgomery, bodes to be the fourth single from the set to enter the Billboard Top 10 and has debuted in the Top 30 in only a few weeks. Aaron has already scored Top 5 Billboard airplay hits from “Soul Stories” with his Latin-flavored single “Encantadora,” featuring Najee on flute; the soulful jazz tune “You’re The One For Me,” featuring vocalist Spencer Day, and the slamming old school jam “Groove-O–Matic.” Though fans have heard some tales of “Soul Stories,” the full-length collection features new tracks, including the Latin dance romp “Sol Amor,” the Hall & Oates classic “Sara Smile,” “Story of My Life,” a balmy atmospheric South American fusion of tango and Brazilian vibes; the alternately simmering and soaring “Story of the Blues,” and a passionate version of the classic “Europa,” re–imagined as a bluesy cross between the Gato Barbieri and Santana versions featuring a beautiful orchestral and nylon string guitar intro. “There’s literally everything of me on ‘Soul Stories’ – my heart, blood and sweat. It’s all in this record.” Soul Stories, featuring Najee, Spencer Day and Ricky Lawson is available everywhere!
